Deepfake Image Detector — Chrome Extension | Last updated: June 2026
Short version: This extension reads webpage content only to detect deepfake images. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. Everything runs locally on your device.
1. What We Access
When you activate the extension on a webpage, it reads the image content of the current tab to perform deepfake analysis. This is the only data the extension accesses.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII).
We do not collect browsing history or URLs.
We do not transmit any images or webpage data to external servers.
We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
We do not share any data with third parties.
3. Local Processing Only
All deepfake detection is performed entirely on your device using a locally bundled deep neural network model. No image or content from your browser is ever uploaded or sent to any remote server.
4. Local Storage
The extension may use chrome.storage.local to save your preferences (such as toggle settings). This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted externally.
5. Permissions Used
activeTab — To read the content of the currently active tab when you trigger the extension.
scripting — To inject a detection overlay that displays results on the current page.
storage — To save user preferences locally on your device.
Host permissions — To access webpage images on the active tab for analysis.
6. Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
